The venues which did not receive a 2023 World Cup match were given priority for bilateral matches as per the BCCI venue rotation policy. Regarding not getting matches in the World Cup, the administrators of many places had raised questions as to why they were ignored in the grand competition.

Hence, places like Mohali and Indore will host two limited overs matches in the home season. While Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow were not considered as they have already hosted World Cup matches.

India has to play a three-match ODI series with Australia from September 22 just before the World Cup and after the Asia Cup. Then the 50-over World Cup will start in October-November.

After the World Cup on Indian soil, next year’s T20 World Cup (June-July) cycle will begin, for which India will play 8 T20 matches on their soil – five against Australia and three against Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan team will be visiting India for their first white-ball bilateral tour in January 2024. Earlier both were to have the ODI series which got postponed this year. Now both will be face-to-face in the shortest format. The three-match T20 series will be held in Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru.

Another big announcement is about Dharamshala getting Test hosting. This year, the same stadium was also allotted for the third Border Gavaskar Trophy Test between India and Australia, but the outfield was not ready in time due to rain.

After this, it was taken to Indore. The fifth Test between India and England will be held in Dharamsala on March 7, 2024. Dharamsala will host five World Cup matches before this, including the India-New Zealand match on October 22, 2023. India’s home season is something like this-
