After Tilak Verma, and Nehal Vadera, Akash Madhwal has emerged as another Indian sensation who could be the future of Mumbai Indians as well as the Indian cricket team.

Madhwal created a sensation by taking five wickets for five runs in 3.3 overs against Lucknow Supergiants in the eliminator match of the 16th season of IPL. Due to this performance, Mumbai has managed to crush Lucknow by 81 runs.

Akash’s background is quite interesting as he used to play tennis ball cricket till 4 years ago and did not even touch the red ball. It is quite an interesting case that 29-year-old Akash was playing tennis ball cricket till the age of 25.

Tennis ball cricket taught him to bowl the yorker as there are more chances of hitting ruthless sixes on all other balls. Not only this, but Akash is also an engineer.

It is a different matter that for cricket, he left his engineering background and job and came to the field to earn a name through this game. Akash comes from the state of Uttarakhand.

In Uttarakhand, Akash’s talent was recognized by the then coach Wasim Jaffer and current coach Manish Jha, due to which Akash left the tennis ball in his practice and started trying his hands with the red ball.

The results were visible very quickly as Madhwal emerged as a sensation ahead of the 2023 domestic season.

Soon got the reward of hard work-

Akash was then rewarded for his efforts when he was made the captain of the Uttarakhand white team. Akash has played 10 first-class matches for Uttarakhand with 12 wickets in his name.

He has taken 18 wickets in 17 List A matches and 37 wickets in 29 T20 matches.

Jofra’s injury made way-

Suryakumar Yadav was injured when Rohit Sharma and Co. picked up Akash last season. Madhwal could not make much of a mark as a replacement for Suryakumar Yadav, but this season when Jofra Archer was also injured, Akash was called and what happened next is a story in itself.

Doing amazing after amazing

Akash scored 30 runs in his debut match against Punjab Kings and did not impress much but was backed by the captain and the team management.

Due to this Akash took 3/31 against Gujarat and 4/30 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede. What happened after that in the Eliminator match has become history and Akash has become amazing in himself.
