IND Vs AFG T20I: Can Shivam Dube Become A Threat To Hardik Pandya?: The Indian team registered a spectacular victory over Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the first T20 played in Mohali, and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

In this match, Shivam Dubey performed amazingly with ball and bat for Team India. Shubman played an unbeaten inning of 60 runs with one wicket.

Shivam Dubey was looking for an opportunity. He got a chance to play in the T20 series in Ireland in August, marking his return to the senior national team after a gap of more than 3 years.

He was also part of India’s gold medal-winning campaign at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year. Dubey was selected for the home series against Australia after the World Cup, but he did not get a chance to feature from the bench in all 5 matches.

After being ignored for the T20I series in South Africa in December, Dube returned to the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan on home soil, the last T20I for India before the World Cup in June.

Fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya was unavailable due to injury and India had no hesitation in bringing Shivam Dube into that role in the first T20I in Mohali on Thursday, January 11. The hosts went with 3 all-rounders in their XI for the opening match of the series, Shivam being one of them.

Can Shivam Dubey Become A Threat To Hardik Pandya?

Shivam Dubey also got a chance to bowl. The Mumbai player did much more than that as he troubled Afghanistan’s batsmen by getting seam movement off the pitch in Mohali. He got the wicket of Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran and almost had one more wicket.

Dubey took 1 wicket for 9 runs in his quota of 2 overs. It was a memorable night for the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder as he scored an unbeaten 60 off 40 balls in India’s successful chase of 159 in the first T20I.

It seems that this all-rounder is ready to make a place in the T20 World Cup squad. The Indian team management would surely be thrilled to have someone like Shivam Dubey as a backup option for Hardik, who has been struggling with injuries in recent times.

Meanwhile, many memes regarding Shivam becoming a threat to Hardik Pandya have also started going viral on social media.

Shardul Thakur is not able to take advantage of his opportunities well, so the team management would like to see Shivam Dubey continue to perform well.
