Siraj has returned to India after being rested from the ODI series against the West Indies, along with R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, and Navdeep Saini. In fact, with Mohammed Shami being rested, Siraj was expected to lead the pace department, which also featured Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, and Umran Malik apart from all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Team India’s star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has returned home from West Indies after being rested for the ODI series. The decision has reportedly been brought keeping in mind the workload on bowlers. Siraj achieved the second 5 wicket haul of his career in the Test series against the West Indies. This series was named by India 1-0.

The BCCI has not yet announced the replacement of Mohammad Siraj. Before the home ODI World Cup in October, India has to play the Asia Cup from late August to mid-September and a three-match home series against Australia in September.

Siraj took seven wickets in the two Tests, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings on a Port-of-Spain pitch that caused a West Indies batting collapse on the fourth morning. Prior to this tour, he was also a part of the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval, in which he took five wickets including four in the first innings.

Siraj also played a critical role in Indian Premier League 2023 for RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore), where he took 19 wickets in 14 matches, the most for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who missed the playoffs by a narrow margin.

Siraj’s last ODI was against Australia in March 2022 at home. He ended the series with five wickets. Since the beginning of the year 2022, Siraj’s 43 wickets in ODIs are the most by any Indian bowler.
